The Flower Seller

A colourful, sunny oil painting of a girl selling flowers in the hot sun. I was first attracted to the dappled light falling across her face. I painted this firstly in burnt umber then added layers of colour. I used a very light touches of paint to produce the face, it was tempting to do more but I think I stopped at the right place. The Pink flowers were one of my first attempts to produce colours similar to the sleeve of Jean de Dinteville in The Ambassadors by Holbein the Younger.
