Sailing from Byzantium

The title of this nude study is a play on the words of Yeats' poem, 'Sailing from Byzantium.' I was pleased with the texture of the skin, produced by lots of layering, commencing with the underpainting in umber and a dead layer in grey tones. I struggled with the cloth at her feet in that I couldn't decide what colour to paint it. It was originally white but I went through a variety of reds until I found the colour I wanted.
